You have an an iPhone and a Pebble — the ultimate in cutting edge mobile technology. However, there’s one small problem: your watch won’t tell you when the next turn is! Enter Smartwatch GPS for Pebble. Armed with the power of the Apple Directions API, this app turns your smartwatch into a personal navigator.
Key features:
* Notifications on your Pebble before each turn (even if you leave the watchapp)
* Simple display that doesnt drain your watch battery
* Automatic backlight activation when you approach a turn if it is dark outside (based off of the sunset time at your current location)
* Automatic recalculation when you get off track (strangely missing from most Pebble GPS apps)
* Pin-drop navigation to custom locations (as near as possible via known roads)
* Powered by Apples directions API (MapQuest support is coming soon if thats not your thing)
NOTE: Requires the Pebble Pilot GPS app to be installed on your Pebble. https://apps.getpebble.com/applications/5388edc1b2d0eb1a4b00001d
NOTE: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
Latest reviews of Smartwatch GPS for Pebble app for iPhone and iPad
I use my Boosted Board to get around town and I needed something to give me turn by turn directions without having to look at my phone. I tired various GPS apps for the Pebble and this one was the best. Thanks!
Recalculations not working. Could you please add directional arrows on the Watch and 2x vibrations for approaching Right turn and 1x Vibration for left turn? Will adjust Review. Tranks.
Dont waste your money buying this for your Pebble Round; its not compatible.
Just downloaded this companion app for Pebble watch to my iPhone 6s Plus. I click on the GPS icon and it brings up a map with current location and search bar with no additional info for start / end. I even tried to bring up the apple map which works fine but offers no connection to the pebble app. I search everywhere for a decent set of support directions and found ver little. Total waste of money. Too bad since the concept is a great idea.
If you want turn by turn directions on your wrist (Pebble smart watch), this is the app to get. Start the navigation on your iPhone and put it away in your pocket. Your wrist buzzes at every turning point and tells you which way to go. Thats all I want and all I need. It works. There are a few quirks for the developer to address. I have both the iPhone app and Pebble app installed and had to restart the iPhone app a couple times to get them working together. Now its all working well. The app clearly gives driving directions, which are not always the shortest route for pedestrians. There should be an option for walking routes. Its not possible to drop a pin on the map or tap a labeled landmark and get directions to that location, which would be helpful when trying to get to an unknown address. Also the search function needs fixing. When I type a term and press the search button navigation starts immediately, directing me to a random location. Pressing the search button should return a list of search results. The workaround is to type a term and wait for suggested results to appear, then select one of them. All that said, its a great app. Hopefully the Pebble community supports this developer and gets him paid so he can polish up the rough edges.
